Well on a much brighter note Cape Hawk obliged in the 20:50 at Kempton, coming in at 11/4, so a nice 2.75 point profit on the day. This system is looking good but as I said earlier, for the benefit of this blog the system started from zero at the beginning of the day, so updated stats to follow.

Well, an absolute shocker for these systems today but to be totally honest I didn't expect anything different. The last couple of weeks have not been at all good and the rot seems to be setting in. Well at least for the time being anyway!
Lets put it down to it being the first results of my new blog so they were bound to lose- and we'll leave it at that...

One other system that I run at the moment that has selections today is the 20-25 day system. In a nutshell, the main criteria for this system are the horses have to have run LTO (last time out) between 20 and 25 days ago and is for flat racing (all-weather included).

Welcome

I welcome one and all to this little corner of the internet. My little corner of the internet, as it happens, so I will take this opportunity to give you all a run down as to what this blog is all about and most importantly, I suppose, why this blog has come to fruition (yes, I've attempted many blogs in my time and all have invariably dropped off the radar for one reason or another).

I have always been a kind of stats and systems freak when it comes to my betting, whether it be horse racing or football and at any one time I am invariably tinkering with one system or another!
There are quite a few stats sites out there in internet land for both horse racing and football, so any self respecting punter will probably have dozens saved to his or her favourites folder and know all of the top sites well.
What people are less knowledgeable about though is the plethora of betting and sporting forums that are about on the web and these can be an absolute gold mine of information to any punter. Personally, I think the best betting forum by far on the web (and I don't say this at all lightly) is The Punters Lounge and this is the forum on which I post selections for a few of my systems ( see the At The Races- Horse Racing Systems section of the forum- user name aelara).

Now, most of my horse racing systems are formulated using the best, in my humble opinion, horse racing ratings site on the web, Adrian Massey's site. This site has the most comprehensive set of stats going back about eight years or so and also, crucially, gives one the ability to use its database to run reports on all sorts of scenarios using different criteria as diverse as specific race distances and going to the amount of weight a horse is carrying compared to LTO and the finishing position two races ago! The scenarios are infinite and I suggest that if you haven't yet had a chance to visit this fantastic site then do it now. You can run two types of reports using Adrian's database- one using his own ratings and the other based on favourites, 2nd favourites, etc, so basically there's something for everyone.

We now come to the reason why I wanted to create this blog and its a simple one really. I want a place where I can post up ALL my systems and their corresponding selections, ALL system results, strike rates, ROI (return on investment), etc, ALL ideas or silly notions I have about systems that are tucked away in that empty space between my ears and basically anything else I want to get off my chest. As I mentioned above, I do post certain system selections to the Punters Lounge forum and I will happily continue to do so as I love that place, what I wont do though is subject the forumites over there to all the systems, notions or whims I may or may not have stored away somewhere, be it on a piece of paper or in my head- they deserve better than being subjected to that!

I will endeavour to update the blog as frequently as possible and barring accidents that should be everyday but please forgive the odd transgression!
