Another three-and-a-bit points profit today. System 5 is definitely on an upward spiral at the moment but the opposite could be said for the 20-25 day system! I was glad to see the only trend lay selection lose as well, quite a relief after yesterday.

Hats off to Generous Gem me thinks!! Certainly saved our bacon today at a cracking 10/1! Over all profit for the day though was just under two-and-a-half points, so it could have been pretty painful indeed.
A glitch with the trend-lays today and not happy about that at all. They had been going so well but I suppose a bad day was due. Let's hope that was it for a few more days at least.
I am also aware of the fact that the trend lays selected totalled two today but I have three down on the updated results list. Reason for this is that the trend-lay system actually picked a horse that I had selected for another system to WIN. Seeing as I already had the other systems selections posted before the trend lays were put up, I decided, in the interest of fairness to omit that selection from the trend-lay list. As it happened, the horse came 2nd (I'm sure you can guess what horse it was now), so in order not to mess my spreadsheet up, I have included the result in the updated tables list.

So much for it being a special day!! I am now totally convinced that the weather is having a considerable adverse affect on the Massey ratings or at least the way in which Massey formulates his ratings. There can be no other explanation as a few of the guys over on Punters Lounge who also run Massey based systems are also experiencing major problems.

What can I say? A total disaster wouldn't be too harsh a word me thinks! After yesterday's great results we get a total stinker like today. -7.00 points on the backing systems and another 2.34 points lost on the place-lays. The only saving grace is that the trend lays are still going great guns and at short prices as well.
I think we can now safely knock the place-lays into touch as the system is definitely not working. In fact I should turn it into a PLACE system!! Also, come the end of August, a couple of the backing systems will be culled I think. Some are just not performing as intended and it's hard work choosing all the selections, getting the results and then updating tables and the like. I think it's pretty obvious which one's will get the boot but who knows what will happen by the end of August?

New tactics today. Lay clear 3rd favs at Market Rasen but only with the following conditions eliminated:
No race with 8-9 runners
No 3m-3m1f races
No 2m4f-2m5f races
No 8 year old horses
No mares or fillies
Not finished 2nd LTO
Must not have run between 10-14 days ago
How viable this will be, only time will tell. I can tell you that 3rd favs at Market Rasen have a place strike rate of 42.5%. With the conditions above eliminated, this falls to 27.4%.
Well, an excellent day on the backing front with over 5 1/2 points profit on the day but not so good on the lay side of things. The trend lays recorded their first win today (hence loss for us), but at only 2/1 the damage on the day was limited to just over a point. Seeing how these lays have been doing the last few days, I'm not too worried about today's loss and still remain extremely happy with the way the system is going.
The place-lays, on the other hand are definitely not going to plan and this is very annoying as I had high hopes for this system. I know where I have gone wrong and I plan to rectify that as from tomorrow. I will keep all results as is and give the system until next weekend to prove its worth.
